Serious: The Aurora Pirates Part 6: The Grand Line
James was lying on his bed, his hands held behind his head. They had just left the island behind the island where they had trained. After so long, they were finally on their way to the Grand Line.
"So..." James whispered. "This is it." He grinned. "Just a little further. One more push and we're there."

(Oh...something I forgot to mention. The baby dragon was supposed to get his name last RP. So he's called Immelman now.)
Immelman had taken to staying up in the crow's nest of the ship. It was a good place to sleep, sunbathe, and feel the ocean air running over his scales. The baby dragon hopped up on the edge of the crow's nest to watch the waves. He noticed a small strip of...something off in a the distance. It looked like land! With an excited squeak, Immelman hurled himself from the crow's nest and flew down to Jake's head.

"Hrgh!"
Jake had been dozing off (while standing, no less... while actually having orders to clean the deck, too...), so he had been a little surprised by suddenly having something hard and heavy landing on his head.
He calmed down really fast when his brain got back into reality and told him it had to be Immelman.
"What is it, sweetie?"
He looked at the horizon in search of what had upset the dragon so much and soon found it.
A wide grin spread over his face.
"Captain! Land!"

Kaori was on the deck, right in the front. He was waiting for challenges, old and new. He truly had learned some things in the island, despite his skepticism. Perhaps it had been a good idea.
(Gonna add some stuff to Kaori soon.)

"Land?" James slammed his door open. He walked to the front of the ship, slipping his swords onto his back, before he pulled out a pair of binoculars to look at the place up ahead. It was a tall object made of a reddish stone. In the center, James could just barely make out a small, blue river heading up the object. His heart began to quicken. Could it be? James lowered his binoculars and in a hushed voice said, "I think it's Reverse Mountain..."

"Look alive people!" James said. "We're coming in on the Grand Line hard and fast!" He looked through his binoculars again at the path ahead. "And it looks like we're about to hit a storm! Jake, take the wheel and keep us on our course!" James ran down to the main deck and clambered up one of the masts so that he would be ready to roll up the sails before they hit the storm.

"Aye, captain!"
Jake ran to the steering wheel, an action completely uncalled for, since it would have taken him only about two seconds to get there at normal speed.
He grabbed it and kept the ship on corse as well as he could.
"Wooho! Grand Line, here we come!"

Kaori, unlike many others in this situation, kept calm. He was a repeat visitor in the grand line, and he was sure they would make it fine there. After all, the crew was at his level.

The storm came upon them suddenly, though not totally without warning. James managed to tie up the sails before they could get torn. He dove towards deck and used Kazeshini to slow his descent right before he landed. They were being thrown around by the storm and were hard pressed to stay afloat.
((To tell you the truth, I don't remember this part of the manga all that well. Did the storm throw the Strawhat's into the Reverse Mountain stream so that they went right in or something?))

Jake held on to the steering wheel with one hand. With the other hand, he held on to Immelman. He didn't want the poor thing to get blown away.
despite the wind and rain, he tried to keep his eyes open. the mountain was coming closer at great speed.

James frowned. They were coming in on the mountain to fast for his taste. If they hit the rocks then they would be crushed and killed instantly. Except for Kaori.
James stood at the center of his ship and raised Kazeshini. "Let's do this," he whispered. As the ship veered to the right, James spun Kazeshini over his head and began blowing back the wind that came at them from all sides. He only allowed the wind behind them to continue pushing them forward, but even that was dangerous and unpredictable as the ocean was still throwing them around. James smiled slightly. He would have to rely on Jake to make sure they got through safely. He had complete confidence in the fishman, but this storm was crazy.

"Alright, let's do this..."
Jake knew this wole thing depended on him now. Talk about pressure...
With all his strenght, he steered the ship away from the rocks, and towards the only opening, the one chacne they had to get to the Grand line.
Later, he'd wonder whether he had survived if they had hit the rocks... If he had landed in the water, then his chances would have been good...
But what did it matter?
It wasn't the case. In the blink of an eye, the rocks were not in front of them anymore, but next to them. Now to hope they wouldn't get too close.

They began to shoot up the middle stream, so James stopped dealing with the wind around them. They were on too straight of a course to be bothered. Besides, they were going so fast now, he wasn't sure that anything he did would really matter. James simply stood there and grabbed on to the mast, grinning insanely as they shot up Reverse Mountain.
"Here we GOOOOOO!" he shouted.

(Apparently valawxedit left...*sigh*)
The ship raced up the stream and reached the top of the cliff. For a brief moment all four blues could be seen, each with their own current that brought ships up to this point. Then the Aurora pirate ship shot down the other side at high speed. "There it is..." James whispered. "The Grand Line!" The ship hit the water below with a splash and finally slowed back down to a nice cruising speed. "We made it," James said. He grinned and punched the air with his fist. "Finally."

"You heard that? We're there!"
Sure, he had been here before... But Immelman hadn't!
"Look, sweetie! This is the grand line! You're gonna meet horrors untold here!"
He grinned widely as he held up Immelman in one hand to give him a good overlook over the...water. then he realised what he had said.
"No reason to worry, of course! I am here, after all! I'll protect you!"

Re: Serious: The Aurora Pirates Part 6: The Grand Line
Immelman squeaked out a laugh at what Jake had said. He wriggled out of Jake's hands and flew around the fishman in circle before he flew up to the crow's nest high above. The small dragon screeched and pointed with a claw at a piece of land attached to the mountain they had just crossed.
"Look at that," James said. The part of the mountain was not all that high above the ocean. It had an old lighthouse on it, but not much else except grass. Then there was a massive black shape sticking out of the water next to the place. James frowned, looking closely at the black shape. Suddenly it hit him what the thing was. "WHALE!" he shouted.

Jake squinted his eyes.
"Whale?"
Looked more like a moutnain to....
"WHALE!"
And what a whale it was! He had never seen anything that size! And they would be crushing right into it!

Re: Serious: The Aurora Pirates Part 6: The Grand Line
James ran towards the front of the ship while shouting at Jake, "GET US AROUND THAT THING! Immelman! With me!" The baby dragon shot down to James's side and fired off a stream of fire at the whale. James spun Kazeshini in front of himself. "Team Attack Combo: Searing Flame Wheel!" The wind tunnel from James's attack caught the flames and rocketed them at the whale, hitting it on the side. James could hear a moan of pain and the creature began pulling back slowly. But would it be enough?
